DARK KNIGHT RETURNS MEZ-ITZ

My girlfriend got me this during her business trip to the US, she knew I really enjoy the Batman movies!

Well this is only my 2nd Mezco toy (my first was the Underworld Selene figure), and I must say its really cute. I love the super deform nature of the Tumbler and Batman looks good. I would have preferred if they gave him a plastic cape over a cloth cape.

My only disappointment with the toys is some of the details of the tumbler weren't sculpted, stickers were applied to it. The exhaust also wasn't sculpted, but the details were printed on, which makes me wonder why  they use stickers on the wheels. And another thing, the wheels don't turn at all.

The Tumbler is a 2-seater, so I'm hoping one day to get a catwoman figure somehow.

Overall, its not a bad toy, but its not that great either, but ot does look good on display thats for sure!

FAN EXPO 2012 PART FOUR

Every year I seem to buy less and less at these comic convention. There's only a handful of issue Im looking for with current back issues, and as for old Fantastic Four and X-men comics, the ones I can afford are only  not that many. Currently I'm only missing less than 30 issues of Fantastic Four, and around 5 or 6 issues of the Cockrum and Byrne run of Uncanny X-men! I plan to start a Justice League of America collection sometime in the next year or so, just waiting for my love of action figure to die down!
Here's my comic haul, half of it are freebies! I'm a little disappointed with DC these days, in the past they have boxes of free comics around their book, these days they only give out a handful out.

Got the J. Scott Campbell sketchbook, these are probably the only artwork you can expect from him on a regular basis. Also got this nice Lady Death cover by Mike Deodato. The funny thing is, I saw the collector who sold this piece to one of the dealer at the show, and he sold it pretty cheap! Since I really wanted the cover, I had to pay the dealer his asking price! He pretty much made an easy profit that day!

Met Adi Granov on Sunday and got this sketchbook from him. He had a really nice water color Iron Man art for sale, but I just couldn't afford it anymore after getting the Lady Death cover the day before. Really nice guy and a wonderful talent!

I have no idea what this toy is, but they were just giving it away at a gaming booth!

Overall, Fan Expo 2012 was fantastic, I just wish I had plan my day better! I miss out on a lot of free sketches at the DC and Marvel booth, as well as some comic panels! Here's hoping I can go for the full 4 day next year!

FAN EXPO 2012 PART THREE

Frankenweenie had a big booth at Fan Expo, showing a lot of the models used for the  movie. They are SOO fantastic to see in person!

FAN EXPO 2012 PART TWO

Really surprise I manage to get to the front row of the Continuum panel. Continuum is a sci-fi show shot in Vancouver, the show just got renewed for a second season.

Rachel Nichols, from Alias, GI Joe and Conan!

William B. Davis, aka the Cigarette Smoking Man from X-files, he's such a funny gun in person!

Whee, manage to meet the cast and got them to sign a poster!
Also met Carlos Pacheco, in my opinion one of the more the best artist who can do a group book!
And finally got a chance to meet Ron Garney, in my opinion the best Captain America artist ever!

FAN EXPO 2012 PART ONE

This is probably one of the best Fan Expo ever! The show keeps getting better and better, lots of big name comic and sci-fi guest, unfortunately I could only go on Saturday and Sunday...and worst, spent a better half the day on Saturday in line at artist alley waiting to get a sketch which I never got.

Skywalk to the convention center

The line going to the South Building where the convention is being held.

Line up at the North building for people who prepaid online.

Artist alley!

MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE CLASSICS PART 2

Well here's a couple of MOC figures that recently got release from their package:

Initially I was planning to just keep the Shera 2.0 body and sell the rest of the figure, but later realize that I only lack around 3 or so figures from this toyline.

Yep, my Featless Phototog has a crack lense! Thanks a lot Matty Collector.

Got an extra Queen Marlena to display as Captain Glenn, I think this is one of my favorite figure in the toyline. Also got an extra Shera, I'll probably display her with her vintage head. Pre-Eternia Disguise He-man is definitely the worst figure Mattel has put out,,,,EVER!

Still missing the Wind Raider, but I'll probably wait for it to go on sale....

George Perez - New Teen Titans: Games GN

I rarely get excited with getting my new comics, in fact I usually visit my LCS once a month or just order from Amazon once a hardcover or tpb catches my attention. Of course when the New Teen Titans: Games graphic novel came out, I immediately went to my shop after work, got it and read it that same night.

Games is a book I have been waiting for since the late 80s when it was first announce! The NewTeen Titans is my favorite comic book series of all time, featuring all the characters and comic creators I loved!
Sadly this  is also the last DC book set in the old universe. After reading the book, I felt angry they had to reboot the universe yet again, and this time erasing all traces of the Teen Titans. Yep, I am not a big fan of the New 52.

I'm still collecting the current Teen Titans comic (even if it is such a pain to read), just to "complete" my Teen Titans collection. Aside from Tiny Titans and Teen Titans Go, I have all the Teen Titans series all the way from their first appearance on Brave and the Bold #54 (1964).

Here are some of the interior pages:

I'm also very fortunate to have me the great George Perez at the Toronto Comicon last March! Of all the comic creators I've met in the past, nothing compares to this guy, very friendly with fans, and such a talented artist! Age doesn't seem to affect him artistic skills! I have no idea how he can can keep his energy level up for 2 days just sitting on his booth and doing these sketches and having a smile on his face all the time. His line at the con was the longest...at any given time!

I'm a little sad I wasn't able to get a full-body commission sketch from him via facebook (still not sure how their interface works), but he was able to do those quick sketches for me. Overall I had a terrific time meeting Mr. Perez and I hope he visits Toronto again!
